“I first heard of YCS through a presentation at school and I am passionate about the work they do and values they uphold. This year, I am engaged in a project to paint a mural of a world map in collaboration with elementary schools to highlight the diversity and a sense of belonging in our community.”

The Youth Connect Heart Track builds on the foundation of the student-led LEARN (Leading Engagement for AntiRacism, Now!) Commission to identify policy solutions to address systemic racism faced by our youth who are Black, indigenous, and/or people of color (BIPOC). Today the Heart Track peer leaders continue projects such as creating student diversity officer positions on their school campus, and hosting community awareness and heritage celebration service projects.

Young Minds Celebrated:
A Community Collaboration for Youth |
Annually, YCS collaborates with over 250 community partners to engage youth in a variety of service learning projects in areas of health & human services, education, animals, housing & hunger, environment, seniors, social justice, veterans and more.
Over the past year, YCS has helped organize Young Minds Celebrated in collaboration with City Councilmember Julie Lythcott-Haims, Palo Alto Youth Council, Project Safety Net, allcove, Creatrix Institute, The Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and at locally owned businesses including Coupa Cafe and Mike’s Cafe. Young Minds Celebrated has brought together youth-serving organizations and community members to celebrate youth and their creativity through spoken word, musical performances, poetry, and more while providing a space to learn about mental health resources available to youth.

What Community Leaders Say About YCS |
"When youth feel genuinely seen and heard they experience a greater sense of belonging and purpose in life, and their mental health improves. We can all be a part of the solution. YCS is an integral part of that solution. They are my go-to when I’m looking to partner with community organizations to give our youth a platform in which they can express their thoughts and talents, such as the Young Minds Celebrated event we have sponsored together. "
