Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2023

Join hundreds of your mid-peninsula neighbors for a community-wide day of service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Mitzvah Day organized by Youth Community Service (YCS) and the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto in partnership with the City of Palo Alto and the City of East Palo Alto. This intergenerational event will feature a range of hands-on service projects; participants will work in small groups on projects addressing issues of poverty, hunger, housing and homelessness, aging, the environment, and more. Open to all ages! Featuring projects for individuals & families. Children under 14 must be accompanied by adults.

YCS youth peer leaders programs that focus on youth mental health and wellness and racial justice are debuting an art show and inviting youth from across Santa Clara and San Mateo County to submit their art (physical art and/or performance art)- see flyer below for details.

After the morning volunteer service at local organization sites, be sure to come join together and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Mitchell Park Community Center from 12:30pm – 2:30pm.  View art pieces and watch and listen to artistic music and performance by youth in our community.
