Youth Community Service Palo Alto Middle School Coordinator

Start Date: August 20, 2018
Salary Range: 35 hr. per week/$15.50-$18.50 per hour

Summary and Position Responsibilities:

The YCS Program Coordinator will work closely with the Palo Alto Youth Program Director to facilitate YCS middle school clubs, Action Team, and support for YCS Service Shout-Out. The Coordinator must also build and maintain positive community relationships with many community partners.

  • Middle School Clubs Coordinator will assume responsibility for weekly, service learning based YCS Clubs at the three middle schools. Each club meets weekly on a designated day during lunch. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing volunteer opportunities for the clubs. In addition, the Coordinator will build and maintain positive communication and relationships with the Teacher Sponsors and other key personnel on each campus. Other responsibilities include maintaining program records, including attendance, and recruiting club members.
  • Action Team: Coordinator will be responsible to planning and implementing a weekly afterschool service and leadership program for middle school students.
  • YCS Service Shout Support: Work with other YCS staff to produce and distribute a monthly newsletter of service opportunities for local youth.
  • Event and Program Support: Coordinator will also work with the YCS team on community events and support other YCS programs as needed.

  14. Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously and manage the details related to each
  15. Working knowledge of Macintosh, Microsoft Word, and Excel required

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid CA drivers license and reliable transportation for field work
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Submit a copy of their DMV record and drivers license and automobile insurance
  • Clearance results from a TB test and place fingerprints on record
  • Current certifications in First Aid and CPR or be willing obtain within 30 days of hire
