Julia Williams, a native of East Palo Alto, has worked in the field of youth development since 2001. She received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from CSU, Long Beach. While in college, she served as a community program leader for the Girl Scouts, teaching young women life skills and community leadership. It was her work with the Girl Scouts that inspired her to continue work in youth development. One of her most memorable successes was assisting a teen mother from Redwood High School in writing her award-winning Leslie R. Griffith Scholarship essay. Julia joined Youth Community Service in 2008 and was later promoted to director of East Palo Alto programs. In this role, she co-developed YCS’s Service Learning Curriculum. Julia is honored to be able to give back to the community that raised her.
