A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Judy worked for many years in biotechnology research before returning to graduate school to complete her doctorate in educational psychology at Stanford University.
Judy began as a researcher with Youth Community Service and was focused on understanding the connection between service-learning and self-efficacy. As a result of both her research, and her experience in working with YCS youth and programs, Judy has a deep appreciation for educational opportunities that guide youth towards becoming compassionate and caring adults who embrace civic engagement and leadership. Her current work includes integrating service-learning in both in-school and out-of-school environments. She has also written curricula on social and emotional learning for middle and high school students.
