In Sequoia district the 180 Degrees Program curriculum is being utilized to provide students with social-emotional learning and character development. Students in the program are given the space to critically analyze themselves, chart their journey, and practice skills learned through classroom, school, virtual, and greater community projects. After students discover and refine themselves they work together as a class to create and carry out a service project.
An important phase of the 180 Degrees Program involves the implementation and monitoring of the program and capturing outcome performance data. Program success is measured by students before and after academic performance, attendance, documented disciplinary incidents, and developmental surveys measuring the rate of progress in character development, core values and life skills. Students who successfully complete a semester earn elective credits.
